The Kalkscheune now has WiFi for events

Thanks to the new event WLAN, digital event services can now be used at the Kalkscheune event location in Berlin.

When the Kalkscheune became Berlin's first machine factory in 1831, WiFi was certainly not yet a big issue. Today, many years later, the building is used for congresses, conferences and cultural events. Naturally, a modern WiFi infrastructure is a must. Whether social media, video streaming or digital payment - a professional eventWiFi is the basis for all digital services. We are therefore very pleased that we were able to support the Kalkscheune in providing WiFi for events in the future. Of course, according to the most modern standard, because when event services or the internal organization rely on cloud services, the WiFi is as important as electricity. Or as the operators of the Kalkscheune themselves write in their blog: "A fast and secure WiFi connection is consequently as much a part of the event as an atmospheric room, a laid table and a smile at the reception." We can endorse that.

Event-WiFi is more than just internet for guests

Internet access for guests is an important issue at events. After all, a data connection is required for the use of event apps or interactive elements such as voting. But even the internal organization of events nowadays largely runs via online applications such as cloud storage, messengers or online task management. The big advantage is that all data is always up to date every second and stored in a central location. During the ongoing event, tickets are validated online, guest lists are adjusted at short notice, and the social media channel is used. What all these applications have in common is their dependence on a stable data connection.

What is special about Event-WiFi?

Probably everyone has connected to a WiFi network at some point. Whether at home, in the office or in a hotel. And you always expect the login to be fast and the connection to deliver all the content quickly to your smartphone or laptop. If the connection is slow or even unstable, frustration quickly sets in. To ensure that WiFi functions stably, it must be adapted to the respective application. While a FRITZ!Box and perhaps a WiFi amplifier for the power outlet are sufficient for about 1 - 4 people at home, hundreds or thousands of users must be supplied at events. The hardware used must be able to withstand this load and the individual WiFi transmitters (access points) must not interfere with each other with their radio waves. In addition, the network must also be shielded against foreign, interfering radio waves and protected against attacks by hackers. WiFi for events therefore requires careful planning and a professional setup so that everyone has fun in the end and program elements such as video streams run smoothly across the screens.

What is the first step for eventWiFi in a location?

If you would like to provide WiFi for your event location or an event, we will be happy to create a suitable concept for you. The first thing we do is discuss your requirements. How many users are expected on average, which services are to be used mainly and how large is the area to be illuminated? Once these and other questions have been answered, we will find the right solution for your project. Of course, it is also possible to permanently install an infrastructure for everyday use and to temporarily expand the network in times of particularly high utilization.
