Cashless payment at events
Cashless payment will become the norm in just a few years. Those who do not offer it will have to reckon with a drop in sales. This is particularly true for events.
The topic of cashless payment at events is currently gaining momentum, as smartphone payments are slowly gaining ground in addition to the familiar payment methods such as debit and credit cards.
The smartphone is simply held briefly against the terminal - and that's it. The whole process is still secure, however, because the user is already identified by his smartphone. There is no need to enter a PIN or sign anything. And of course there are also special cards or wristbands that are issued at the event and can be used not only for payment, but also for admission control, access authorizations and relevant statistics.
Cashless payment saves time and nerves
Organizers benefit from cashless payment on several levels. First and foremost, the workload on staff is reduced because digital payments are processed quickly. Factors such as giving out change or the tiresome issue of "no more change in the cash register" are eliminated. In addition, the money is right where it belongs: in the account. This means that large amounts of cash no longer have to be guarded at the point of sale and transported later.
More sales through cash alternatives
Another advantage is the increase in sales. It is not uncommon for guests at events to run out of cash, because not everyone remembers to go to the ATM before the event. Others have not planned for the spontaneous purchase of merchandise or feel they have already spent too much. Of course, bills that you spend arouse the feeling of spending money much more than a short beep of the credit card.
It is therefore a good time for event organizers to think about cashless payment. Digital payment does bring some advantages, but of course a corresponding infrastructure is also required.
Simplified evaluation
Personnel and merchandise planning become much easier with a good base of usable data. Where is the busiest? At what time of day do you have to reckon with particularly heavy crowds and which products are in particularly high demand? The digitization of such processes makes all this information available without the need for a tedious evaluation in the Excel spreadsheet afterwards.
Success depends on the infrastructure
Unlike cash, digital processes also require a robust infrastructure. The data connection must be reliable and fast so that services such as cashless payment, digital admission controls, and other services function smoothly. In particular, the infrastructure must be protected against event-typical risks such as weather, theft and vandalism, and of course also against hacker attacks. The Internet and WiFi infrastructure and the systems themselves should therefore be professionally installed and, if possible, also supported on site so that immediate action can be taken if a component fails.
Professional providers also have appropriate insurance. After all, this is about the payment transactions at your event. It is essential to ensure the reliability of the systems and coverage in the event of a fault. Therefore, if possible, have the respective trades prove that they have sufficient insurance coverage.
